Report: Michigan QB Shea Patterson will be eligible for 2018

This is the news that Michigan and QB Shea Patterson were certainly hoping for.

According to a report citing a source by The Detroit News’ Angelique Chengelis, Patterson will be eligible to play during the 2018 season. The NCAA reached agreement with Michigan and Ole Miss, and after completing some paperwork, Patterson will be ready to play immediately. The Detroit News reached out to Michigan and Patterson’s attorney Thomas Mars, but neither had a comment.

In order to get to this point, Patterson filed a waiver through Michigan’s compliance department saying he was lied to by former Rebels head coach Hugh Freeze and other of the athletic department.

Obviously, this news changes many things for Michigan and in the Big Ten. Patterson competed with fellow signal callers Brandon Peters, Dylan McCaffrey and Joe Milton this spring, but there’s little doubt who the starting quarterback will be. Patterson is set to make his Michigan debut at Notre Dame.

In two seasons at Ole Miss, Patterson threw for 3,139 yards, 23 touchdowns and 12 INTs.
