Disney, Charter reportedly nearing a carriage deal to end blackout

Disney and Charter are on the verge of ending their blackout battle on Monday, according to a report from CNBC.

The carriage deal would signal the end of a blackout on Charter for Disney channels such as ESPN and ABC which feature college football games.

Specific of the carriage deal are still unknown as of Monday morning, per the CNBC report.

The blackout has been in effect since late August when carriage renewal negotiations soured between the companies, leaving nearly 14.7 million Charter s without Disney channels. During that time, some s cut the cord and switched to streaming platforms such as Disney’s Hulu + Live TV or Google’s YouTube TV.

During the blackout, Charter CEO Chris Winfrey expressed that the pay-TV model was extremely antiquated and flawed, with this situation as a prime example.

Some Week 3 matchups on Saturday that Charter can now enjoy across Disney channels include No. 3 Florida State at Boston College (12 p.m. EST/ABC), No. 14 LSU at Mississippi State (12 p.m. EST/ESPN), and No. 10 Alabama at South Florida (3:30 p.m. EST/ABC).
