Mike Woodson hired as Sacramento Kings associate head coach

Mike Woodson, a longtime NBA head coach and more recently the head coach for Indiana basketball, was hired to be the Sacramento Kings’ associate head coach under Doug Christie Wednesday evening.
This news stems from a report from Shams Charania, which you can find below:
Woodson has definitely made his mark on the game of basketball, but he struggled as Indiana’s head coach across the past 4 seasons. The Hoosiers advanced to the tournament twice under Woodson during Years 1 and 2, but never advanced further than the 2nd round. Following back-to-back years of missing the tournament, the Hoosiers parted ways with Woodson in favor of former Drake head coach Darian DeVries.
Before his coaching days at Indiana, Woodson was a player – and a star at that. He starred for Bob Knight’s crew from 1976-1980 and was selected 12th overall in the 1980 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. He retired from playing basketball in 1991 and began his coaching career in 1996.
From 1996-2021 Woodson remained in the NBA at some capacity before taking the vacant Indiana job in 2021. He was the head coach of the Atlanta Hawks from 2004-2010 and the Knicks from 2012-2014.
